10 Things You Didn’t Know about Lisa LoCicero

Lisa LoCicero is an American actress who has been acting since 1994. Primarily, people who recognize her will recognize her because of General Hospital, where she has been playing Olivia Falconeri since 2008. However, it is important to note that she has played other roles on other projects as well, meaning that her acting career is better-rounded than it seems on initial consideration. Here are 10 things that you may or may not have known about Lisa LoCicero:

1. Lisa Is a Name with Hebrew Roots

In a lot of cases, Lisa is a shortening of either Elizabeth or one of its other forms. Generally speaking, when a name that sees much use in the West has an “eli” in it, it is not unreasonable to speculate that it might have Hebrew origins because of theophory. In this case, Elizabeth and its other forms come from the Hebrew Elisheva, which means something along the lines of “Oath of My God.”

2. Born in Grosse Pointe, MI

LoCicero was born in a place called Grosse Pointe, which can be found on the waterfront of Wayne County in the state of Michigan. It is one of five places in the region with Grosse Pointe in their name, though it is interesting to note that there are those who see Grosse Pointe’s Downtown as an unofficial center for the entire lot.

3. First Notable Role on a Soap Opera

Perhaps unsurprisingly, LoCicero’s first role of note was on a soap opera, though this wasn’t the same as her first role over the course of her career. Regardless, said soap opera was ABC’s Loving, which started up in 1983 and continued until 1995 before it was replaced by its own spin-off called The City.

4. Played a Part on Raising Dad

One of LoCicero’s recurring roles in other TV shows was Nina Shaw on a sitcom called Raising Dad, which was broadcast on what was once The WB between 2001 and 2002. For those who are curious, the sitcom was centered on a single father raising his two daughters with some help from his live-in father, which was further complicated by his job as a high school teacher.

5. Turned Down a Recurring Role on One Life to Live

Around 2004, LoCicero was offered the chance to play a recurring character on One Life to Live following her audition for another character on another soap opera. However, LoCicero turned down the role because One Life to Live is filmed in New York City, meaning that her role would have been a huge inconvenience for her seeing as how her family was in Los Angeles.

6. Got Written Out of One Life to Live

Eventually, LoCicero was offered a contract role on One Life to Live by one of its executive producers. This time, she found the offer to be much more pleasing, which is why she accepted this one when she didn’t accept its predecessor. However, when the head writer was replaced, her character winded up being written out of the soap opera.

7. Likes Yoga

Naturally, soap opera stars have to do a lot of exercise to maintain a picture-perfect body. In LoCicero’s case, she does a lot of yoga, which happens to be her exercise of choice. Besides that, she is fond of dancing, Pilates, and even dog walking when it comes to her exercise needs.

8. Recommends Sunscreen

When interviewed, LoCicero has recommended that people keep their skin protected from the sun. This makes sense because the sun has a UV component, which causes premature aging as well as with sufficient exposure, a much increased chance of skin cancer.

9. Found It Difficult to Have a Second Child

LoCicero has two children. However, she had a rather difficult time conceiving her second child because she was at the age of 44 at the time. Suffice to say that age has a huge impact on a woman’s fertility, so much so that becoming pregnant for women in their 40s tends to be an uphill struggle.

10. Does a Wide Range of Exercises

Although she is fond of yoga, LoCicero actually keeps in shape by doing a wide range of exercises. This is necessary because her schedule is busy, meaning that she isn’t necessarily capable of accommodating sessions of the same kind of exercise in it.
