While I still think the highlight of SNL last night was Melissa McCarthy playing Sean Spicer, you gotta hand it to SNL for nailing their Super Bowl commercial parodies. Last night’s was right in Kristen Stewart’s wheelhouse and it was as close to perfect as you can get. So far SNL has created three different Super Bowl Ads for Totino’s pizza. The first one featured women cooking for “their boys.” The second one went all X-Files on us. But the one featuring Stewart by far takes the cake.
Kristen Stewart comes in as Ted’s sister. That’s all well and good until the commercial takes a dramatic turn into a sultry foreign movie where Stewart’s getting a little bit more than just Totino’s. They even go as far as to use subtitles which is hilarious. Far and away the best part is that you see this all happening in the kitchen while the guys are all watching television and paying zero attention. They even go as far as to say “what you girls making out back there?”
While I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t think SNL is nearly as good as it used to be (once Tiny Fey stopped writing) it most certainly has its moments. This year’s resurgence has been brought on by Alec Baldwin’s Trump but if there’s one thing you can always count on SNL to do, it’s a solid parody commercial.
