Kourtney and Kim Take New York Season 2 Episode 4: True Colors

kim kardashianOn this week’s new episode of Kourtney and Kim Take New York, Kim almost loses her best friend and Scott attempts to reconnect with his Jewish roots.

Kourtney and Scott discuss Mason’s religious upbringing, or lack thereof. While Kourtney talks about bringing Mason to church, Scott, who is Jewish, realizes he lacks spirituality. He decides to meet with a Rabbi who encourages him to attend temple.

Kourtney and Kim must fly to Los Angeles for the launch of the Kardashian Kollection clothing line at Sears. Kris says he and Scott should have their New York friends over. The girls aren’t too thrilled with the idea, especially Kourtney who doesn’t want strangers around Mason’s toys (??!!). Kim gets a call from momager Kris who tells her she learned that Kim’s bff, public relations guru Jonathan Cheban, is anonymously shopping around a tell all book about her. Kim is floored and decides to confront him over dinner at a restaurant. She asks what he’s been up to lately, and he tells her about all the projects he has going on, but curiously, leaves out any mention of the book. Kim tears into him and Jonathan claims he just forgot to mention it. She’s furious and storms out.

Once back in L.A., Kim complains to Mom who promises to be all over it the next morning. Kris will call every publisher and their lawyers and suggests suing him. Kris and Scott discuss the idea of ‘˜having a few people over’. Scott is firmly against it. Kris ribs him that he’s being a wimp like all the other Kardashian men. Kris’s get together turns into a full blown rager. Scott comes home from temple and walks in on the scene. He pulls Kris aside and urges him to get everyone out. Kris doesn’t see the big deal, and says he doesn’t want to walk around on eggshells like Scott does, it is his home too. Scott says they have to go or he will call security. The next morning, Scott’s in a panic over the condition of the penthouse and tells Kris to clean up before the girls get back. Kris agrees and calls housekeeping.

Kourtney and Kim return and almost immediately spot 4 leftover bottles of vodka. Scott mentions having a few people over then quickly changes the subject. Later on, Kim gets pictures sent to her of random girls in the penthouse and realizes that a party took place. She and Kourtney interrogate Scott. Not one to violate ‘˜man code’, Scott takes the heat and says it was his party. Just when Kourtney is probably about to kill him, Kris confesses to Kim that it was his party. Kris tries to explain how it got out of control, people just kept drifting in. Kim reminds him that strangers should not be in her personal space. Kris apologizes, but Kim is more upset about Jonathan.

Courtesy of Mom, Kim gets a hold of the book proposal. Turns out, it’s a book on how to make it in Hollywood, with a flattering portrayal of Kim. Kim tries to apologize but Jonathan won’t take her calls. Kim visits Jonathan at his apartment, trying to explain that she had been told it was a tell all book. Jonathan can’t accept her apology wants her to leave. Kris tries to console her and gives her the idea to write the foreword for the book. She likes the idea but is too afraid to email it to Jonathan. He appears at her door the next day to make up. She is shocked when he tells her that Kris sent it, but is very grateful that he did. (Wow, Kris did something right!)

Scott says he wants to do Jewish things around the house, like a Shabbat dinner on Friday nights. Kourtney thinks it’s just a phase that will pass, just like Scott’s cane accessory last season. Scott tries setting up the table for Shabbat dinner but is dejected that Kourtney makes fun of his new found spirituality. She keeps asking him test questions about the traditions that he doesn’t have the answers for. He bails on setting the table, admitting he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Kourtney feels bad and decides to pitch in and help him. For once, Kourtney supports her man.
