Hanna is about to become a TV series on Amazon and while it didn’t do much as a movie the hope is that it will be a more attractive lure for viewers as a TV series. It could have been that Hanna came at a time when people were starting to tire of clandestine figures that were highly skilled and knew how to kill people in various and eye-catching ways, or it could have been something else. Whatever the case Hanna was an action-packed movie that didn’t get enough respect.
Here’s hoping the series will get the kind of attention the movie didn’t.
5. It will be written by the co-creator of the movie.
Instead of passing the story off to someone else David Farr, one of the creators of Hanna, will be taking control of the story in some regard and will be on hand to make sure it goes in the direction that it needs to for the story to be fully realized and given the proper attention it needs. This way at least there won’t be a lot of confusion between the source material and the new series.
4. It will reunite two stars from The Killing.
Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman will be reuniting on the set but in opposition to one another rather than as allies. Kinnaman will be playing Hanna’s ex-military father who isolates and trains her to be a killer, while Enos will be the person coming after them. It will be an interesting switch after watching these two in The Killing. Plus, Joel Kinnaman seems like the right guy for the role.
3. It will follow the movie.
Whether it will follow after the movie or become a story that highlights the movie while moving in a different direction is unknown. But considering what happened in the movie I think it’s fair to say that we might see something leading up to the final confrontation or something different. After all if the show becomes a hit then there might be another season and there would need to be more for Hanna to do.
2. Sarah Adina Smith will be directing.
Smith has already proven that she has what it takes to direct with the HBO shows Room 104 and Buster’s Mal Heart. She’s shown that she can handle a story like this and should be able to bring something special to this series that will allow it to continue if there are any plans for a second season.
1. It doesn’t have a release date yet.
This series has been along time coming but like with any movie that makes the transition to TV there are certain hoops to be jumped through and a very big schedule that can hamper any chance of a film reaching the TV in series form. It’s going to happen since the director and the cast have been selected and approved and the story itself should be something worthwhile when it comes to viewing. Now it’s just a matter of when it will happen.
It should be something exciting to watch though.
