If you are a fan of Britney Spears, you probably remember who Kevin Federline is. After all, the two were married briefly, from 2004 until they divorced in 2007. During that time, they had two children, both sons. Unfortunately, Spears was dealing with some mental health issues at the time that the two divorced, which allowed Federline to gain custody of both children. It also caused the courts to order Spears to pay $20,000 in child support. At the time, this was determined to be a fair sum of money. However, Spears has worked hard to get her mental health issues under control and since that time, she has been quite successful professionally. It seems that Federline is noticing her success, and now he wants more money.
While the two were married, Spears wasn’t working much. She released an album in 2007 and since that time, she has released four more. She has also been enjoying a residency in Las Vegas that has proven to be quite lucrative. Because of her success, Federline claims that he wants more child support because he thinks she should be contributing more of her financial success when it comes to paying child support for their two sons.
While there are definitely two sides to the story, it’s rather sad that someone like Spears, who has really struggled to get her life back together and has done so successfully, is now being dragged back through the mud, so to speak. Federline still has full custody of both children, and he has kept whatever he may or may not be doing on a professional level so quiet that no one really knows what is going on. While he is asking for more money, he also points out that he has always supported her in her professional endeavors, so he believes that he is entitled to part of the money that comes as a result of her success.
It seems that he reached out to her initially with this request, and now a team of lawyers has become involved on both sides. Nobody really knows how much he is asking for, or whether or not he will eventually get it. When it is all said and done, it seems as though the people that are supposed to be at the center of this argument, the children, have been largely forgotten in his quest to publicly seek more funds from her. With that being said, that may not be the case at all. That is certainly how it appears, but appearances can be deceiving. No one really knows what’s going on, much less what is being said, behind the scenes.
Hopefully, the two will be able to work something out without dragging this issue out in court for the next several years. They both owe it to their children to at least make an attempt to get things worked out in a peaceful manner as opposed to making this a public issue that continues to be talked about on a daily basis.
