Anthony “Top Dwag” Tiffith, the CEO of Top Dawg Entertainment, along with rapper Kendrick Lamar are set to produce the upcoming “Black Panther: The Album,” which is the soundtrack being created to accompany the newest superhero movie from the Marvel universe, “Black Panther.”
The album being produced is going to feature music that was inspired by and from the movie, which includes the new collaboration between Kendrick and SZA, called “All the Stars.” Apparently, Lamar was selected for the project by the director of the film, Ryan Coogler. In a press release, Coogler stated that it was an honor to have the opportunity to work with an amazing artist such as Lamar, and one whose work has been a real inspiration for the artistic themes created for the upcoming film.
What does Kendrick Think about this Opportunity?
Kendrick is apparently just as excited about the project, stating that the “Black Panther” movie, from Marvel Studies is downright amazing, from the director to the cast. He also stated that the film does a great job at showcasing both culture and art and that he is honored to contribute is knowledge of sound production and music writing to create the upcoming soundtrack.
When is “Black Panther” Going to be in Theaters?
Marvel Universe fans have a bit longer to wait for the newest edition to the crime fighting, superhero family, as “Black Panther” isn’t set to be released until February 16th of 2018. The soundtrack will be available a few days prior, on February 9th. According to sources, this is going to be the very first time in all of Marvel Cinematic Universe history that the Studio is planning to use original recordings that were specially created for the movie that is being produced. The actual track list for this new soundtrack hasn’t yet been released.
So, What’s Black Panther’s Story?
If you are unfamiliar with the story of Black Panther, you have a few Marvel movies to catch up on before this one is released. However, as a quick recap, the movie “Black Panther,” follows T’Challa. After his father dies, who is the King of Wakanda, his son, T’Challa, goes back to his home, where technology has not reached. He takes place as King of this African nation; however, a powerful, former enemy reappears soon after his return.
His ability to be king and continue being Black Panther is threatened when he is pulled into a conflict that puts not only his home country of Wakanda at risk, but the entire world. In the face of danger and treachery, this young king has to rally together all his allies and work to release all the power Black Panther has to ensure his enemies are defeated and to protect his people and their way of life.
There is no question that this is going to be one of the must-see films of 2018, and most Marvel fans will agree, February can’t get here soon enough.
