Katherine Moennig might be one of those people you don’t think much about until you see her pop up in more than one place and start to think that you’ve seen her before and that she looks familiar because of this role or that. She’s a great actress in that she can assume a lot of different parts and can make a person believe one thing or another about her. The only thing is that she seems to be really underappreciated at times either because she’s not being given bigger roles or because maybe she likes the pace she’s going and wants to keep her work as unconventional as possible. It’s not unheard of since some actors really do love doing more Indie films and staying under the radar so they can enjoy their work and still get paid. It does seem to save on a lot of headaches when they don’t have to deal with the press as much.

When you look at her she does have a very feminine look, but if you dress her down and strip away all the makeup she could almost pass for a man. Almost is the key word since she still looks very much like the woman she is. But she can pull the act off all the same.

A lot of actors take to appearing in music videos sometimes either on a lark or because they really want to be in a music video. Keep in mind that despite being rich and famous they still are human and have the same kind of desires as the rest of us. Who in the world wouldn’t want to be in a music video?
8. She’s Gwyneth Paltrow’s cousin.
This seems like a fact that a LOT of people wouldn’t know but also one that’s not entirely important so it’s not going to be broadcast far and loud. Still, it says a lot since a good deal of her family seems to be involved in show business in one way or another.
7. She’s been in an episode of Law & Order: SVU.
Finding a clip is kind of hard but she played the part of a young transsexual that was going to get an operation for her boyfriend, who didn’t know that she was still a biological male. Unfortunately his brother found out and she killed him in self-defense.
6. She moved to New York at the age of 18 to attend acting school.
Hollywood or New York seem to be the places to go when people want to get into acting, or London, which is another big one. These three locations seem to be the Mecca of acting since so many people make their way there.
5. She’s in Ray Donovan.
If you’ve watched the show at all then you know it’s kind of brutal and very worth watching since it’s got enough drama and action to make it a classic for this day and age. Her part is somewhat calmer than most but she still rocks it.
4. She’s been acting since 2000.
This shouldn’t be too much of a surprise since she was in Law & Order after all, but like a lot of others she’s been around long enough to see what goes on and know how to navigate her way around the set.
3. She’s narrated a few audiobooks.
This kind of makes one wonder just how her voice sounds in an audiobook since a lot of actors will use their natural voices rather than modulate for anything that might need a different pitch or tone.
2. She’s a prominent theater actor.
She’s not just about film and TV, she’s been in front of theater crowds as well so you know that she’s learned how to balance herself and to act in a manner that is highly professional. If you can act on stage then it seems that you should be able to act in front of the camera.
1. She was in the Lincoln Lawyer.
This was an interesting movie but she didn’t get a lot of screen time. Thinking of how a lawyer might operate out of their car is kind of strange but at the same time it feels like it would be liberating as well. Just think of all the time a person spends going from one place to the other, having to pick up and go so often. In this manner a person would always be on the go and be able to change direction pretty easily by comparison.
Katherine is a skilled actress that excels at what she does and really needs to be utilized more often. But if she’s happy doing what she’s doing then so be it.
