10 Things You Didn’t Know about Joe Dempsie

10 Things You Didn’t Know about Joe Dempsie

Whether he believes it or not Joe Dempsie is kind of a chameleon when it comes to acting since he can take on a role and make it his own a though he was born to it. If you don’t believe that or question it at all go on and watch several of the projects that he’s been in and then try to dispute it. Chances are you might at least agree in part that he can really take on the role and make it work. That’s the kind of actor that is needed in the modern era, one that can blend into the crowd and become another part of the scenery that you really don’t expect until they decide to stand out and be known. Dempsie is one of those that has confidence in himself but still is in awe of what’s going on around him. It’s great that he hasn’t lost his sense of wonder but at the same time it’d be great to see him keep moving forward and discover a new level of talent that seems to be emerging very slowly.

Here are a few things you might not have known about him.

10. He’s a soccer fan.

Many of those in the UK or from there will gladly argue a person under the table when talking about the vast difference between football and American football, which is impossible to dispute. But the name is still something that people tend to quibble about.

9. He’s in Game of Thrones.

Gendry is the bastard son of Robert Baratheon but has been used as a bargaining chip throughout the show by those that know who he is and what he can do to their power base if he were to come forward. The only thing people seem to forget is that a bastard in Game of Thrones has no legal right to the throne if he was in fact declared to be Baratheon’s son. He’d be no threat, especially since Gendry just wants to live a simple life.

8. He’s kind of in awe of the show.

He fully admits that he is impressed by the show and that it has to keep ramping up production and effects in order to keep the people interested as the show costs an arm and a leg to produce. He’s right on that count, in order to get their money back the creators will in fact have to keep making sure that people have a reason to come back. Teaser trailers anyone?

7. He’s been in Skins.

Controversial shows featuring teenagers seem to be all the rage still these days as they tend to explore the kind of things that teens get up to as they start to come of age and discover just who they are and what they want. So of course it’s going to be controversial, that’s the bread and butter of the average teenager’s life.

6. He was in Blitz.

Targeting cops is something that might have seemed off-kilter and thoroughly stupid when this film was made but in today’s environment it’s not something a lot of people would speak out against as strongly considering the lean towards police brutality and the idea that the lot of them are thugs with guns. It’s a dangerous notion but one that seems to be growing.

5. He was shocked to get the role of Gendry in GoT.

Joe was a bit surprised that he got the role since he’s not as big and buff as Gendry is supposed to be. After all Gendry was sent off to become a blacksmith’s apprentice and by all means was supposed to be big and burly. But he’s still managed to fill out the role just fine and bring it to life in a way that people have accepted.

4. He started acting in 2000.

It’s a wonder that he’s still in awe of anything that has to do with acting at this point since he’s been in for so long, but perhaps it’s a good thing that he’s still able to feel that special spark that comes from seeing something he didn’t expect. It certainly couldn’t hurt to be well aware that he hasn’t seen everything yet.

3. He’s done voice acting as well.

He hasn’t done quite as much of this as he’s stuck to live action projects but it’s interesting that he would since it could mean that he’s branching out and might be wanting to see what else is out there for him.

2. He’s lent his voice to several radio shows.

This guy has gotten around at little bit it seems and is really trying out a lot of different things in his career. That’s a positive thing since being stuck in one medium at all times could be kind of boring if a person has nothing else to fall back on.

1. He’s far more prominent in TV.

He’s been in films but nothing has really popped yet when it comes to his acting and on TV it seems that he’s become much more known.

It’s still worth it to see if his career is going to expand anytime soon.
