The game of “what if” began within the first 24 hours of Donald Trump being President. What if James Comey hadn’t gone so hard after Hillary’s emails? What if 10,000 people in X district didn’t vote and X percentage of people here did this or that? What if Hillary had been a little “nicer?” There are at least a million other “what if’s” in the grand scheme of the 2016 election. A big “what if” that just surfaced on Friday concerned former Vice President Joe Biden. What if Joe Biden had run for President? He finally broke his silence about it and was asked if he regretted not running.
“I had planned on running for president and although it would have been a very difficult primary, I think I could have won,” Biden said in remarks at Colgate University. “Maybe not, I don’t know. I was fairly confident that if I had become the Democratic nominee, I would have had a good chance to be president,” Biden continued. “Do I regret not being president? Yes. I was the best qualified.”
I don’t think that Biden was knocking Hillary Clinton here but he’s certainly making a point. I have a feeling that Biden would have skewered Trump at the debates and the whole “when they go low, we go high” would have been out the window. Biden would have brought it and have had no qualms using words like “rape” and “you’re pathetic.” I personally think Trump would have lost it and said even worse things than he had during the debate.
But, this is all hindsight and does nothing for us now. You were a great Vice President Mr. Biden but it’s too late buddy. Thanks for playing though.
