Silence of the Lambs is largely considered to be one of the best horror/thriller films of all-time and Anthony Hopkin’s Oscar Winning portrayal of Hannibal Lecter will always go down as one of the best movie performances in history. In fact, Hopkins was so into his character and people were so freaked out by it, that there were real life repercussions. True story: Back in the 90s Martha Stewart stopped dating Hopkins because she was so freaked out by Lecter and could never get over it.
And now I just found out another crazy tidbit which amazingly slipped by me for all of these years. It turns out that during the making of The Silence of the Lambs, Jodie Foster was so terrified of Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter that she avoided him and never actually spoke to him until the last day of filming. She said that on the very first day they did a read through and that by the end of it she “never wanted to talk to him again.”
