Jimmy Fallon Couldn’t Have Been a Nicer Guy at the Yankees Opening Day Game

You never really know a celebrity is a nice person until you actually see them or meet them in person.  They may play great people on television or in movies, but in real life they could very well brush you off.  And frankly that’s their right as a celebrity and has a human being.   When you think about it, most people in the world aren’t the greatest so why should a celebrity be different?  We’re all human.  So that leads me to my Jimmy Fallon story.  Yesterday I had the chance to go to opening day at Yankee Stadium.  I also had the good fortune of sitting extremely close to home plate (10 rows back).   Sitting at the very front was none other than Jimmy Fallon.

The first thing that got into my head was “this guy’s a Yankees fan?”  I think because of the movie Fever Pitch I just assumed he was a Red Sox guy.  You see?  I did it again.  I associated real life with a movie role.  Fallon’s apparently a big time Yankees guy.   P.S. Pete Davidson was sitting next to him and Rudy Giuliani was one row behind them.   Rudy Giuliani is kind of a scary looking dude in person, and his head is gigantic.

Anyway, let’s get back to Jimmy Fallon.  The guy was there simply as a fan which by the way is my theory on why he’s a great talk show host.  He’s just fan.  I feel like to this day he’s star struck by everyone who comes on the show and it’s visibly apparent.  He’s relatable, just like you or me, and that’s why his fan base is so big.   Fallon couldn’t have been a nicer guy at the Yankees game.   He could have easily brushed off every single person that came his way but I swear to God I’m not embellishing when I say he must have taken at least 50-100 photos with people.  Gave out autographs whenever he was asked.  Shook hands with whoever wanted to.  I mean seriously, he was a machine.

When he left the game, same thing.  Every single person who stopped him and asked for a picture, he’d oblige.  I stopped to think about it.  Jimmy Fallon probably gets this every single day, at every single game he goes to let alone any public place he’s in.   There could be a day where his dog dies, he finds out one of his friends passed away, anything, and he could dismiss someone.  That someone would then tell that story and for the rest of their lives they’ll assume the worst about Jimmy Fallon.  And that goes for any celebrity.   But Fallon seems to know this.  He knows that every single time a person meets him, it’ll probably be their last and he wants to make sure he doesn’t come off as a selfish, mean, celebrity, no matter what might be plaguing him in his head.

I just thought what he did was pretty awesome and I highly doubt all celebrities are that gracious.  It made me respect the guy that much more.  So wherever you are out there Mr. Fallon, thanks for being a good dude.
