Jerry Springer Might Run for Governor in Ohio: For Real

Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!  That’s all I kept thinking when I read the news that the daytime “talk show” host might be running for Governor in the state of Ohio.   Business Insider is reporting that over a half a dozen “influential Ohio Democrats are pushing the daytime-TV host Jerry Springer to run for Ohio governor in 2018.”

The thing is this: at first it might be kind of surprising to find out this news but then you look at the obvious.  Donald Trump is our President.   Arnold Schwarzenegger was a governor.   Jesse Ventura was a governor.  Kane from the WWE is running to be the mayor of a town in Tennessee.   Is it so far fetched that Jerry Springer would use his celebrity to get into political office?  Certainly not.    Also let us not forget that Springer has actual political experience.

He was elected to the Cincinnati city council in 1971 but resigned in 1974 after admitting to hiring a prostitute. Springer was caught when there was a raid on a brothel in Kentucky and authorities found a check that Springer had written to a prostitute “for services rendered.” Springer was reelected to the seat in 1975 and elected as the mayor of Cincinnati in 1979.

If that’s not a perfect political pedigree then I honestly don’t know what is.  He’d fit right in.  It would also be kind of cool if Springer ended each speech with “Until next time, take care of yourself and each other.”
