You might recognize this lady and if you do then good on you since she’s a great actress and kind of undervalued sometimes since she has a very convincing act and knows how to lighten the mood as well. On the Frasier show, where she’s known to most people, she managed to create a very memorable character and was someone that people tuned in to see. It’s kind of amusing to see from this picture and it might not indicative of how she looks all the time but Jane seems to have actually gotten even better looking as she’s grown older. She was quite a beauty while on the show but now it seems that she’s even more distinguished and has somehow managed to look even more gorgeous than ever. And on top of that, she’s been keeping herself busy as she’s still seen on TV enough to keep herself relevant.
Here are a few other things that some folks might not have known about her.
10. She was in a video for David Lee Roth.
Obviously this was back in the day when David Lee Roth was someone that a lot of people still wanted to listen to and when bikini-clad women were the big thing going for music videos. Remember what happened in the 90s? Everything got a little dark and dirty.
9. She was in Frasier.
Imagine having to put up with two of the most pretentious people in the world and their father that was exactly the opposite of them. Then imagine that Frasier’s other friends and acquaintances came over at all hours and stuck around for a while. That’s a job that would take a seriously iron will to keep up.
8. She was training to be a ballerina until an injury stopped her.
Unfortunately she suffered an ankle injury that put a halt to this part of her life. She also went into acting since she knew she was never going to be a soloist and she really didn’t want to get stuck in the back of the performance. At least she’s honest.
7. She has her own production company.
To be fair she owns it along with a couple of other people, including her former costar Peri Gilpen from Frasier. So it seems that even with acting she’s doing pretty well in other ventures and has made quite a life for herself.
6. She plays a psychiatrist in Desperate Housewives.
Now this is funny. On Frasier she played a woman that lived with a psychiatrist and his father while on this show she plays a psychiatrist that has to deal with people that have some of the most neurotic lives of anyone that’s ever graced the TV industry. How’s that for a twist?
5. She’s a James Dean fan.
Jane believes that if James Dean was still alive that we wouldn’t have all the whiny-boy actors that we do now and she might have a good point since James Dean was about as manly as it got while still being a rebel at the same time. Maybe he would have still been acting and could have straightened things out a bit. It would have been worth it to see.
4. Her real-life pregnancy was written into her story line in Frasier.
The weight gain and then the weight loss were written into her character so as to make it appear that it was just a phase that Daphne was going through while in real life she was pregnant and still able to keep up with the show for the most part.
3. She had a small role on The Benny Hill Show.
It was so small that finding a clip for it is actually kind of a challenge. But she did get her start on the Benny Hill Show and it was something that’s out there to find if you know where to look. Seeing her this young is kind of funny since she was obviously used for her beauty as well as her ability to get a laugh.
2. She worked as a model for a while.
She definitely has the form for it and the poise as being a dancer for a while no doubt helped. However it was something she seemed intent on doing until her acting got going and then she made the switch and never looked back.
1. She’s been acting since the 80s
Jane has been around a while, since 1981 in fact, and has seen a lot and done a lot in her career to this point. That she’s slowed down and gone back to just doing TV isn’t such a bad thing since it seems to be where she shines the brightest. But just watching her is great since she turns in a performance that’s very realistic and quite pleasing to the eye and ear.
Hopefully she’ll be around for a while to come.
