I’ve personally stayed away from writing anything about the Charles Oakley incident at Madison Square Garden because frankly I want to bring zero attention to James Dolan. As a New Yorker, I would have to put him in my top 5 “worst people in New York” list. There isn’t a New Yorker I know or should know that likes this man. Our beloved Knicks have been stuck in mediocrity for what appears like an eternity (save for that one Mike Woodson season). By far, and I mean by far the most exciting thing to happen at the Garden during a Knicks game in the last 20 years is this whole Charles Oakley scuffle slash attack slash “every Knicks fan in the universe is on your side Charles” thing. Even former Knick Chris Smith (J.R.’s younger brother) is selling a T-shirt that says “I’m With Oakley” right now.
So as a Knicks fan and certainly Oakley fan I can say this: I don’t care what Oakley did because it pales in comparison to the torture and agony James Dolan has put us through ever since Patrick Ewing stopped wearing #33 for the Knickerbockers. So what am I really saying here? Not a whole lot other than yeah, I’m with Oakley, but just in case you didn’t hate James Dolan enough, here’s a video of him singing and playing the Kazoo on Good Day New York.
I think he’s my #1 least liked person in NY after watching this.
