You heard us correctly. In a world where super heroes are taking over the entertainment industry, we are no strangers to seeing drastic changes in characters that are portrayed by certain actors and actresses, especially when it comes to the character of Batman. We have seen many greats take the role of Batman in the various movies and television shows that have been created over the course of many years, with the most recent of those portrayal coming from Ben Affleck. However, in the light of the new “Justice League” movie that came out in the end of 2017, bad reviews has Affleck on the verge of fleeing. We are going to explain more about this speculation in the article, so let’s get started!
Justice League Film
As we mentioned before, the new “Justice League” film that was released a few months back did not do as well as many thought it would. It received some bad reviews from critics and also did not have a great standing in the box office either. This, of course, for an A list star like Ben Affleck, made him begin to question his time as the Dark Knight, and has also had the studio for the DC Expanded Universe questioning his role in the films as well.
Contractual Obligation
As many in the industry will know, when you take on as big of a role as Batman, that also comes with many different appearances in other films as well, there comes the contractual obligation. However, if it is true that the studio is wanting to part way with Ben Affleck as Batman, there may come an agreement to speed up the process. As of now, Affleck is already set to make an appearance in the soon to come “Flashpoint” film, but this doesn’t guarantee him any other future with the franchise in the years to come.
New Blood
With all of this talk surrounding fans everywhere, there is much speculation as to whether Jake Gyllenhaal will indeed replace Affleck as the Caped Crusader in future films of the franchise. This speculation took further action as it was revealed that Matt Reeves, who is in the works to make another Batman only film, has already set his eyes on casting Gyllenhaal for the starring role. Although this has not been completely confirmed by any means (and for that matter, the solo Batman film has no official dates confirmed either) we can only continue to speculate and see how it all rolls out.
With all of this talk and buzz lurking in our ears, we have to wonder if Jake Gyllenhaal could or would truly be a good fit in the role of Batman. There have been so many who have taken on the role in the past, as we mentioned before, and it honestly is quite a character to live up to. Considering the popularity that the DC and Marvel movies has had for our society over the course of many years, fans may be ready for this drastic change once again. We can only hope for the best, and we can’t wait to see the outcome as the franchise continues.
