Is The Show Body Cam: Close Encounters Fake?

It’s a bit difficult to take anything seriously these days unless a person is on hand to see it and experience whatever ‘it’ is firsthand. That’s why shows like Body Cam: Close Encounters, is something that still is bound to receive a bit of scrutiny no matter that it has to do with the very real idea of police wearing body cams so that their conduct and their experiences can be authenticated and shown to people to make it clear just what they go through on an average day. Now you might want to say that of course police officers have a rough job and they go through any number of perils in a given day, and you’d be right in part without a doubt. They are after all charged to protect and serve the people and are expected to be held to much higher standards than most of us because of their duty to the community in which they’re based. But body cams, while granting people the advantage of being able to see what’s really going on, are still not infallible.

One very big reason why is that while the body cams are in fact showing what is happening now and what a cop is going through while they’re on duty, there’s no guarantee that things haven’t been tampered with or some staging hasn’t been done. Reality TV unfortunately has dealt with this stigma for many years now and it’s likely to continue until this reputation is turned around. Very little on reality TV has been seen to be real since so much is staged and the idea is that people want to see something that’s a lot more exciting than reality. Playing this kind of game with a cop seems like anything but wise however since the job of a police officer is something that’s not to be taken lightly. So in all honesty claiming this show to be fake is within the boundaries when it comes to making an accusation, but it’s hard to tell whether doubting the veracity of the show or the fact that it would mean that the producers are somehow glamorizing the lives of cops is the worst sin.

It’s a known fact that video footage can be altered and that ‘live’ TV is usually a broadcast that has been heavily edited and reviewed so as to give the people the best show possible without any chance that they’ll simply turn it off because it’s not up to their standards of entertainment. But apart from keeping the ratings up there is also a huge moral implication that this show would have to deal with if ever comes to light. If there was to be doctored footage within a police show it seems like it would be a horrible breach of ethics not to mention highly illegal since mucking about with the law in some cases is by and large a huge offense that not even a major network could possibly get away with. But if things were staged for entertainment value, as has been done in the past, then it might be something that’s allowed to slide since it’s all for the viewing pleasure of the audience.

But in this case if such a thing was done it seems like it wouldn’t just hurt the reputation of the show or the network, but would be a serious blow to the whole idea of wearing a body cam. Cops are wearing these across the nation as of now to make sure that what they do and see is documented so as to avoid any he said/she said kind of conspiracies. While it’s possible to doctor film the very idea of it in this case is so abhorrent that it begs the question as to whether anyone would be that foolish. In that regard it’s very easy to believe that this show is far more authentic than any other on the air. But that too comes with a moral dilemma that seems to point the finger in every direction, not just at the cops or the producers.

It’s very true that people love to watch drama and they love to watch violence, and the life of a police officer can give plenty of that if they’re having a rather off or dangerous day. But in the even that an officer is shot or wounded this becomes a drama that could be all too real and therefore rather morbid when it’s put into a show. How anyone could watch such a thing and be entertained is kind of disturbing really. Whether or not the show is entirely real is up for debate, but the idea that someone would find the more intense images, if they are real, entertaining is kind of troubling. In any event, if you want to find out if this show is fake it would seem that corroborating news and/or police reports would back up or refute anything that is shown.
