I Travel The World To Take Photos Of Doors

I have always been fascinated by doors not only because of their meaning in architecture but also of their metaphorical importance in people’s lives. A door is simply more than just a door. You can find in all kinds of cultures sayings, proverbs and quotes about doors. Here are some examples*:

Many open a door to shut a window. ~ Dutch Proverb

Kind words will unlock an iron door. ~ Kurdish Proverb

Beware of the door with too many keys. ~ Portuguese Proverb

When God shuts one door, He opens another. ~ Arabian Proverb

As a traveler with huge interest in photography it has become a tradition for me to walk on unknown streets and look for interesting doors. Here are some of my favourite photos taken in the last few years. Enjoy.
