Hilarious Off Camera Stories From the Game of Thrones Set

Game of Thrones

“Game of Thrones” premiered its Seventh Season July 16. Despite the intensity of the HBO fantasy drama adapted from George R.R. Martin’s novels, the cast of “Game of Thrones” can laugh at themselves between takes. There are plenty of funny moments on the set as the actors have great sense of humor. As Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” begins the actors have shared the hilarious moments that place among the cast and crew on the set.

Here are 5 of the most hilarious moments from the “Game of Thrones” set.

Jamie and Tyrion’s dance

While Jamie Lannister led his brother to trial on charges of killing his nephew, the King, in King’s Landing, the moment was intense. The Lannister siblings have many issues least of all regicide and patricide. Anyone who watched the trial unfold during airing of the drama would admit every moment was intense. Yet, the actors had to have fun with the scene. Jamie (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and brother Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) made light of the moment when they danced down the aisle creating levity and laughs for the cast and crew.

Khal Drogo’s modesty sock

Back in Season 1, Khal Drogo had an intense scene with Daenerys Targaryen where the Dothraki “King” basically raped his bride. According to the cast and crew of “Game of Thrones” Jason Momoa (aka Khal Drogo) has a wonderful sense of humor. Despite looking like the most intimidating man in the world and in the most intense and frightening scene for Emilia Clarke (aka Dany Targaryen), actor Momoa helped bring humor to the moment. Apparently Mamoa was well endowed (as was Khal Drogo). It’s no secret that actors wear modesty socks in such scenes, but the naked Mamoa/Drogo came to Clarke/Dany with a fluffy pink sock hugging his “manhood”.

Kit Harington has a sense of humor

The writers of “Game of Thrones” like to play pranks on Kit Harington and the handsome actor who plays Jon Snow has a sense of humor. He even gets the writers back. The writers wrote a fake scene to prank Kit. They wrote a scene where Kit has his hair and lip burned. These are obviously 2 of Kit’s best features. Kit got them back by sending a photograph of himself between seasons with a shaved head. The actors are not supposed to change their appearance between seasons and the writers were panicked. It turns out the photograph was several years old, and Kit Harington had not cut his hair.

Tyrion and Cersai’s friendship

Brother and sister Tyrion and Cersai are arch enemies on “Game of Thrones”. However, Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey are in fact good friends. The actors find it difficult to hate each other on set. They often have laughing fits while trying to film scenes. They have learned not to look each other in the eye during their more intense altercations.

Playing football with a severed head

Sean Bean played the role of Ned Stark, the Stark family patriarch and friend of the King in “Game of Thrones”. Sadly, Ned was beheaded early on in the HBO series. Sean Bean is no novice at playing roles where he has his head severed. Between takes of his death scene in “Game of Thrones” Bean apparently began kicking the prosthetic severed head around the set along with other cast and crew.
