Any time you take something current from the year 2000 and on and turn it into something having to do with the 80s, 9 times out of 10 it’s going to get my attention. In order to make the success rate of viewability 100% all you have to do is give something the “Full House” treatment and I’m all in. Seriously, I don’t think you can ever mess anything up if you simply add the Full House theme song to any introduction to any movie ever. The latest movie to get the 80s treatment? None other than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Here’s a fun video from the official Marvel Studios YouTube channel that took some footage from James Gunn’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and edited it to make it look like the intro to a sitcom from the 1980s. The Guardians movies – like much of pop culture – is still obsessed with the ’80s, so this makes sense on multiple levels.
I’m thinking this is kind of a combination of A-Team and maybe Quantum Leap influence? I would have been nicer if they could have made the video longer and put a bit more effort into it but it’s tough to complain. This will do.
