The Five Worst Gadgets Batman Ever Used

Batman is one of the best-known superhero characters from DC Comics and the associated films. Fans love him because he is both intelligent and mysterious. One of the appealing features about this superhero is the range of funky gadgets he uses. These have got him out of scrapes and helped him on his missions in some of his most famous storylines in both the comics and the films. However, not all of the gadgets he uses seem all that great. Here are five of the worst gadgets used by Batman.

1. Batpoon

The Batpoon is a mini harpoon gun used by Batman. Fans of Batman have often wondered why he didn’t simply have a larger and more efficient weapon at his disposal. It has also been criticized for its silly name. It raised titters when Batman gave Robin a Batpoon for his birthday. The writers were not all that creative when it came to naming this particular weapon.

2. Bat-USB-Stick

One of the most annoying things about Batman having a special USB stick is that it is just a regular item that everyone has. Other than the fact that his USB stick features his symbol of a bat, there is nothing particularly different about this device to any other. The bat symbol itself is one of the most annoying features as it simply highlights the fact that Batman’s ego was so big he insisted on having his own symbol on everything he touched.

3. Bat-Jet-Rollerskates

At the time when the rollerskates were first introduced as one of Batman’s gadgets, rollerskates were probably really fashionable. However, times have moved on and the sight of Batman wearing a pair of boots with wheels on seems dorky rather than cool. Simply adding some jet power to them doesn’t make them seem any cooler. In fact, it is just a comical idea and they lowered Batman’s superhero status.

4. Bat-Flamethrower

At first glance, a flamethrower may seem like a pretty cool gadget for a superhero to use and is one that has the potential to cause significant damage. However, this was just one of the improvements that was made to the Batman suit during the 1990s, which included a shuriken launcher. The addition of the flamethrower was almost a step too far and that fact that it fired out of the arm of the suit also seemed unrealistic as he was more likely to set fire to his own harm than do anybody else any damage.

5. Batman’s Life Saving Robot

Many of the gadgets used by Batman over the years have simply propelled him further into danger rather than getting him out of trouble. Therefore, the introduction of a life saving robot kind of made sense. When he was first introduced, the robot would appear on a nightly basis and became a guardian for Batman. However, he soon became a hindrance, getting in the way and disappearing. In the end, Batman killed the robot by convincing it to commit suicide. Batman staged an incident that allowed the robot to think that the superhero was dead and he had failed as his guardian. The grief causes the robot to short-circuit.
