Born on January 7th in 1985, Lewis Hamilton is a member of the Mercedes AMG Petronas team on the British Formula One racing circuit. He is often called the best driver from his generation, as well as one of the best drivers in Formula One history. He has definitely taken the racing world by storm, holding a myriad of titles and records. In fact, he has more victories than any other driver in Britain. He Was the First and Only Black Driver
In all of Formula One history, Hamilton is the first and only black driver to get behind the wheel. His father is black British and mother white British, making him mixed. While the couple moved to the UK during the 1950s, they split up when Hamilton was two. Apparently racing also runs in the family, because Nicolas, his half-brother, is also a driver. There is no question that reaching 100 mph and flying around curve after curve is a pretty intense way to earn a buck. As a result, it is pretty understandable that Hamilton has a passion that allows him to slow down and child out. Lewis began to learn how to the piano recently, and while he has not been playing for long, he has already performed with Rita Ora, an industry superstar.
Everywhere he Goes, His Bulldogs Go
Hamilton travels with his two best friends and while this doesn’t seem unusual, his friends aren’t of the two-legged variety. They go by the names of Coco and Roscoe, and these two bulldogs go everywhere that Lewis goes. All three travels on Lewis’s private jet and receive the VIP treatment. During a trip to Mexico, Hamilton even through a huge birthday party for Roscoe, complete with cake, sombreros and party hats.
He Has Idols, Too
Even world-famous celebrities and superstars have people they admire. For Hamilton, he saw one of his biggest idols while attending the 90th birthday celebration of Nelson Mandela. Apparently, to get to Will Smith for a picture, Hamilton even stepped on the foot of former President Bill Clinton. Talk about star-struck.
He is More Religious than Most People Realize
Hamilton actually grew up attending a Catholic church, and today, he is still true to this upbringing. You can see all the tattoos on his body and may not believe he is that religious, but this is simply not the case. Hamilton can often be seen wearing a cross, especially when he is on the track.
