Dane DeHaan is an American actor who is best-known for his roles in movies. However, he has shown up in TV shows on more than one occasion, as shown by people who might recognize him as Jesse on Season 3 of HBO’s In Treatment. Recently DeHaan played the lead role in the movie Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets that is scheduled to come out on July 21 in the United States but July 26 in France, which is the country where its source material comes from.

His Family Name Means Rooster
DeHaan has some English, German, Italian, Welsh, and Scot-Irish in his heritage. However, his family name comes from the Dutch part of his heritage. To be exact, it comes from the Middle Dutch hane, which means “rooster.” As a family name, it can mean either someone who either resembles a rooster or someone who lives in a house with the sign of a rooster.
Got Started Playing Superheroes
On one occasion, Dehaan stated that he got started as an actor by playing superheroes as a child. As a result, it should come as no surprise to learn that comic book movies hold a particular appeal for him, seeing as how they combine his interests as a child with his interests as an adult. Besides Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, he was also Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Has Played the Same Role as James Franco Not Once But Twice
So far, DeHaan has played the same role as James Franco not once but twice. The first time, he played Harry Osborn in 2014, while James Franco played the same character in 2002, 2004, and 2007. The second time, he played James Dean in 2015, while James Franco played the same person in 2001 and 2012.
Loves Golf
It is interesting to note that DeHaan is a huge fan of golf. In fact, he loves golf so much that he has stated that if he could be in the career of his choice, he would be a professional golfer rather than a professional actor. Unfortunately, DeHaan was never able to pursue that particular path because he was never good enough to get a real shot at it. However, he still golfs for purposes of rest and relaxation, seeing as how the sport serves as something of a meditation for him.
