Rapper, DJ, actor and comedian Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino is going on tour this September. The arena tour will cover 13 cities and kicks off in Atlanta. Rap duo Rae Sremmurd will open for Gambino. Fans of the rapper have had to wait for this much anticipated tour promoting Childish Gambino’s latest album “Awaken My Love” which was released more than a year ago, but the rapper has been busy with many other projects including the upcoming Han Solo prequel and “The Lion King”.

Early Years
Donald McKinnley Glover was born at Edwards Air Force Base, where his dad was stationed, in 1983. He graduated from DeKalb School of Arts and New York University where he developed his acting skills working with Derrick Comedy. It didn’t take long for Glover to develop his career as an actor, writer, director, producer, comedian, singer and songwriter. He’s also a DJ who goes by “McDJ” and a successful rapper who goes by Childish Gambino. Glover lives in Stone Mountain, Georgia with his girlfriend Michelle and son Legend. Glover’s writing partner is his brother Stephen.
Television
While a student at New York University, Donald Glover was hired by Tina Fey in 2006 to write for NBC’s hit sitcom “30 Rock” where he also served as executive story editor and appeared in some episodes. Glover also appeared on the NBC sitcom “Community” and played community college student Troy Barns. He appeared in television shows including “Girls” and “Sesame Street”. In 2016 Glover began playing the role of Earnest “Earn” Marks on the FX series “Atlanta”. He also writes, directs and serves as executive producer for the show. Glover has a new series coming out this year “Deadpool”. He is the head writer and executive producer.
Film
Since his career began in 2009, Donald Glover has appeared, written, directed and produced movies. These include 2009’s “Mystery Team”, 2011’s “The Muppets”, 2013’s “The Too Do List”, 2014’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”, and 2015’s “Magic Mike XXL”. He also appeared in “The Martian” and “Spider Man: Homecoming”. Glover’s film career continues to grow. He will be seen playing a young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming “Han Solo: A Star Wars Story” and will play the voice of Simba in next year’s “Lion King” remake.
Comedian
Glover has proven his skills as a comic writer and actor. He worked with David Comedy from 2006 through 2010 on comic videos where Glover acted as several characters, wrote skits and served as a producer. He took his comedic skills to the stage where he performed his stand up act on Comedy Central in 2012. Glover followed up with “Donald Glover: Weirdo” in 2012. He’s also done a web short on Tiger Woods for “Funny or Die”.

Fans of Donald Glover’s alter egos, “McDJ” and “Childish Gambino” may have had to wait for the rappers latest tour, but it’s easy to see that the talented young man is busy with his multi-faceted career. He continues to perform as disc jockey McDJ. Glover began his hip hop career as Childish Gambino by releasing his own records and mix tapes. He released his first album “Camp” in 2011 when he signed with Glassnote Records. His second album “Because the Internet” in 2013 and his third album “Awaken My Love!” in 2016. Fans of Childish Gambino include Mariah Carey who calls him an inspiration and Chance the Rapper who calls Gambino his mentor and has included Gambino on his tracks.
