With all the new film and television adaptations that are up and coming, one could almost forget about the influence of reality television on the entertainment landscape – not really! There are so many different angles from which reality shows can produce content that will capture the attention of viewing audiences. One angle that is always hot is the relationship angle. Whether is parenting, marriage, divorce, cheating or any of a number different variations of the relationship experience, people are interested. The Bachelor and Bachelorette franchise introduced the concept of the eligible single person carefully evaluating their options. Now the Bravo television network is putting their own spin on the concept with Relationshep.
Here are five interesting facts about the show that should bring your front and center.
1. The Show Involves Shep Rose
The show is centered on Shep Rose, whose friends and family consider having been one of the most egotistical, self-centered individuals on the planet. There was a time in which the only thing that Shep Rose cared about was Shep; however, things made a cataclysmic shift in 2003 when Shep met someone that challenged him to think about someone other than himself. His world would be forever changed. Unfortunately, nothing last forever, or so they say.
2. The Return of the Selfish Tomfoolery
Once the relationship in 2003 ended, the old Shep returned with a vengeance to the chagrin of those in his life. Once again, Shep was the self-centered person who participated in all types of debauchery, participating in foolish friendships that only supported his poor behavior. To be honest, it appeared to those who knew him best that Shep relished the idea of being single because he did not have to answer to anyone other than himself.
3. Even the Most Immature People Grow Up
While there are always exceptions to the rule, most people eventually reach a point of maturation in which their view of the world changes, and they begin to see more than themselves. Everyone knew that Shep was capable of this because the relationship back 2003 had brought it out of him once already. Recently Shep had been suggesting that something was missing in his world, and he has become convinced that what is missing is a monogamous relationship.
4. Wanting Something More
On the surface, it appears that Shep has it all. He is tall, handsome, and he has a great family, not to mention loyal friends. What could this perpetual bachelor possibly be missing? It seems that the shallow encounters that he has been experiencing over the last several years are no longer satisfying his thirst for meaningful companionship, and Relationshep is a show run by Bravo that will Chronicle the efforts of Shep Rose to meet Ms. Right.
5. A Different View
It is easy to see one side of a person and draw concrete conclusions that are shallow and inaccurate. There is no doubt that Shep is a self-centered individual; however, he is far from being the horrible person that many people see. This show will allow the public to get to know person that can be easy to hate in a way that they might even end up liking him.
