Five Memorable Easter Episodes from Primetime Cartoon Sitcoms

It’s easy enough to go looking for Easter-themed TV and movie specials but if you’re looking for Primetime cartoon sitcoms that celebrate Easter in some way you might want to go looking for list sites such a Wikipedia or a few others. While Wikipedia seems like kind of an unreliable way to go at times it does have the accuracy that’s needed when you’re really trying to find something. Of course some of them might seem a bit fringe since quite honestly some cartoons that are out there as of now just don’t care one way or another if they take things too far and either make fun of the holiday or trash it altogether. But if you’ve got a sense of humor and are able to watch some of these without passing judgment then it might show that you’re open-minded enough to really sit back and just laugh at what seems absurd or at least comical since as we’ve established already in the recent and distant past, there’s really nothing that’s off limits when it comes to humor.

Here are a few of the best Easter episodes from Primetime cartoon sitcoms.

5. Charlie Brown

This show has been classified as a movie and as a TV show but it seems to fit on this list for that very reason and it’s a classic that people just can’t pass up most of the time since, well, it’s Charlie Brown, and Snoopy, and the rest of the gang. Fandom gives a pretty good rundown of what the Easter Beagle is all about but it does mention that Charles Schulz didn’t really start affixing the moniker of Easter Beagle to Snoopy until three years after it first showed up. But thinking that a dog would enjoy himself so much by giving out eggs to the neighborhood kids is something that a lot of younger viewers enjoyed.

4. Bob’s Burgers

Alasdair Wilkins from AV/TV Club points out the fact that in Bob’s Burgers it seems to be the parents that get more of a kick out of Easter than the kids since it allows them to show off their creative side by finding new and inventive places to hide eggs. The unfortunate part of this is that if anyone has ever gone hiding Easter eggs before they would know that if even one is left behind the chances of finding it are going to be next to nil until you start to smell something that shouldn’t be there no matter if you can find it or not. So the parents get points for innovation but possible negative points for follow-through.

3. Family Guy

Family Guy is a show that takes a stab at just about anything, even if it really has nothing to do with the whole point of the show. But Easter, while being a big deal on many Primetime shows, is still something that doesn’t get covered quite as much on Family Guy as you would think is possible. They definitely go into a lot of other holidays with wild abandon, but the appearance of the Easter Bunny in this episode seems to be as far as they take it. In all honesty the writers and the producers aren’t afraid of tackling many subjects, so it seems funny that there wouldn’t be more Easter specials pulling out all the stops.

2. South Park

Leave it to South Park to make something like Easter into a cult that seems to worship a bunny. I’m not sure why the video didn’t come through but rest assured it’s something hilarious and worthy of the South Park creators since it’s uniquely messed-up and hilariously funny all at the same time. But then this is what people have come to expect from Parker and Stone when they produce one episode after another. There’s almost nothing that’s taboo when it comes to South Park as so many subjects have been covered that it’s fully anticipated that whatever they’re going to do is going to be a severe trashing or warped representation of what it really is.

1. The Simpsons

Homer getting into a fight with a guy dressed like a giant bunny is just classic. In fact the whole time spent at the Easter egg hunt is classic since it features some of the most vapid and nonsensical but hilarious humor ever. And watching a grown man trying to shank another grown man with a chocolate bunny might seem kind of fringe and even too violent for a shoe like this, but it’s still so wild and over the top that you can’t help but laugh. The Simpsons know how to do Easter right since they don’t just enjoy it, they make it into a spectacle that you can’t help but laugh at until you feel tears rolling down your eyes.

Happy Easter 2019.
