Five Great Shows That We Said Farewell To in 2017

Not every show can be kept and even those that weren’t beloved by everyone were loved by someone in 2017. Watching those shows go can be a little painful since it means that someone somewhere thought that a change needed to be made even if the viewers didn’t. Some shows might have been universally hated by many but still loved enough by some to count as a good series. However the ratings are what tend to make a show and if those aren’t high enough then corporate tends to cut down the number so that they can find an available time slot for something else that might be rating just a bit higher. It’s a cutthroat business but it’s also how we manage to get new and exciting shows that will continue to entertain us when the others are gone.

Here are just a few shows that were on the chopping block this year.

5. Chicago Justice

Cop shows, especially those from Dick Wolf, have come to be too much of the same it seems. Even with a completely different cast and some stars that haven’t been seen in a while, the idea is that it’s the same kind of show that we’ve seen a dozen times before.

4. Class

Programs on the BBC can be extra great or they can be something that you might not be able to fully grasp thanks to the vast difference between one studio and another. The story line seemed sound, the effects were pretty good, and it seemed like it had a future. It had Peter Capaldi for crying out loud, but that wasn’t enough to make it last for that much longer.

3. Scream Queens

It seems like any show or movie that has anything to do with sororities tends to be something that’s been seen before in one way or another. The level of evil that comes with any sorority in any movie tends to reach the kind of level that is unheard of and yet is so expected that one can’t help but predict just who’s going to die and in what order. I’d like to say that it’s a mystery that more people didn’t jump on this idea, but it could be that the premise was just too played.

2. The Mist

Had it come out before the theatrical version then this show might have made a lot of people hot under the collar for a good Stephen King story. But the idea of people actually going out into the mist voluntarily after reading the book and watching the movie kind of lost its appeal. Plus, the plethora of monsters out in the mist cuts down on the mystery a bit.

1. Girlboss

Netflix has certainly been on a roll and this could have been something special if it had come out just a little sooner I’m thinking. The idea of the story is just fine since it has to do with a young woman that’s trying to make her own way in the world and has to work against some pretty long odds. As it is however it seems like this one just missed the mark and might have to revamped.
