Annoying TV theme songs weren’t that annoying when we were kids were they? Some of them might have been after a while but that’s only if you watched episodes back to back to back. Even then if you watched them as a kid the chances were good that you didn’t find them in the least bit annoying since you loved them so much. But now that you listen to them as an adult you likely have to wonder what you ever saw in the show in the first place, or if not that, then why you didn’t just tune out the intro and get right to the show.
Really, some of these are just suggestive as all heck or just annoying as can be.
5. Joani Loves Chachi
The Happy Days era had already left and had its day when Joani and Chachi came along, and by that point the magic had kind of worn off. Scott Baio was still a widely sought after man, but the show was something that would never quite reach the same level of fame as Happy Days and people knew this. Plus the intro was almost like a concert that never seemed to end, which it probably should have after the first episode.
4. Lamb Chop’s Play Along
I think with this one it had to do more with the slip-ups that happened on occasion rather than the theme song all by itself. There’s something about seeing a puppet without seeing the hand stuck up its butt that’s okay. But when you can see someone’s wrist protruding from their nether regions it seems a bit perverse really, as though it just stopped becoming a kids’ show and ventured into another realm.
3. America’s Next Top Model
Do you want to be on top? Are we certain there’s no other way they could have phrased that? I get the whole idea of what she’s saying but repeating it over and over seems to kind of indicate that these women aren’t so much trying out for the position of top model but something else entirely. Plus the whole show was devoted to being a thin, wasted-looking female that was somehow seen as a glamorous object for the most part.
2. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
It just got old. That’s the only thing I can really say about this theme song other than it didn’t start changing until it was being threatened with annihilation if it didn’t change. Since the inception of the Power Rangers in America they’ve had to go through a lot of different rangers to make it work, and even then it remained popular but not nearly on the same level as it was when the show first came out.
1. Barney
A lot of folks have an issue with Barney these days and in some cases it’s just their own fears and hang-ups materializing in the form of uncertainty and fear about a person that dresses up in a big purple dinosaur suit. But yes, the theme song does get old after just one run-through. How much love does the big purple guy really need after all?
At least one of these is bound to get stuck in your head if you listened. Sorry.
