Every NFL team wants and needs a running back since without the ground game on offense most teams rely on their passing skill and some just don’t have enough of it to go around. The Dallas Cowboys are arguably one of those teams that can grind it out on the ground and be deadly through the air, but with Ezekiel Elliott on their team the ground and pound is a little more effective sometimes. Being that the NFL has been looking into the lives of their teams and in some cases their most popular players in the last several years it seems fitting that Elliott would be the subject of a movie eventually, and there are a few people that might be able to fill the role, even if a couple of them are getting up in years and might be a bit older than the running back. It might take some doing but those listed below could possibly be the right fit if they really tried.
Here are a few of the guys that could possibly represent Elliott the best.
5. Micheal Ealy
Michael has been coming up as an actor throughout the years and while he’s put in a lot of good performances it almost seems as though he gets looked over from time to time when it comes to bigger roles. there’s no telling just how he would do in a role like or even how he would look with Elliott’s customary hairdo and full-on beard, but it does seem as though he might be able to bulk up enough and affect the look of the running back well enough to make it work. Plus, given that we don’t always hear a lot from Elliott during the season it could be that Ealy, who seems pretty quiet and soft spoken with most of his roles, might be able to ease into this role.
4. Michael Jai White
I’ll be honest and say that I thought Michael was a bit taller than Ezekiel but it turns out he’s just one inch above the running back, which isn’t really enough to notice on screen unless the two were standing side by side. That being the case though Michael Jai White has the kind of build and look that simply makes him seem aggressive and could easily give him what he needs for a role like this. Whether or not he would take it is kind of hard to say since he’s usually being cast in movies that allow him to display his impressive martial arts skills. But given that a movie about a football star could be kind of physical maybe he’d think about it.
3. Jamie Foxx
Foxx might be getting kind of old but at the very least he’s played in a football movie before and might be able to really get into this role. Granted, he played as a quarterback in Any Given Sunday, but that also means that he has a concept of what a running back might go through since both positions tend to get hit occasionally, the RB a lot more often since they tend to get the ball so constantly. Even with his age it might be possible to convince people that he can play the role of Elliott simply because his acting skills are good enough and he’d bring a bit of experience to the role as well.
2. Anthony Mackie
Anthony’s career has been on the rise since he joined up with the MCU honestly and as Falcon it seems as though he might have a ways to go before things really tire out. But signing up as a football star would mean that he’d have to bulk up a bit and would have to adopt the hairstyle or start wearing a wig and false facial hair for the role, which might seem kind of odd. But despite all that it’s his acting that would likely be on display more than anything since he is capable of making people love him or hate him, and unless you’re a Cowboys fan a lot of people have had a serious hate on for Elliott since his arrival in the NFL. The guy’s just that good and tends to rip through defenses after all.
1. Chadwick Boseman
So you could argue that he’s been in a football-based movie since he showed up in Draft Day with Kevin Costner, but the footage that was shown of him playing really doesn’t say much since he got more action in his portrayal as Jackie Robinson. But Chadwick has shown throughout his time on screen that he can be a physical actor and that he can make people believe in him in a very big way. That’s why he would be the number one pick, well, that and his age since he’s probably closer to Ezekiel’s age than a few of the guys on this list.
It’d be an interesting movie no doubt.
