Don’t worry folks, I’m completely messing with you. While this is 100% an actual trailer for a live action The Little Mermaid, it is NOT the trailer for the Disney version which I should hope is just a tad better than this one looks. This is the other live action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, based on Hans Christian Anderson’s original fairy tale. And to say that the trailer looks horrible would actually be paying this movie a compliment. What’s crazy is that there’s some decent star power in this film.
The actually decent cast includes Shirley MacLaine, Poppy Drayton (who shared the screen with MacLaine on Downton Abbey, oddly enough), William Moseley (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Royals), Loreto Peralta (Instructions Not Included), and Gina Gershon (Empire). The Little Mermaid is directed by Blake Harris and Chris Bouchard.
You had me at Gina Gershon. I’m a huge fan. But I don’t think an appearance by Gershon is going to get me to see this film after seeing the trailer. How is this a real movie again? Actually maybe I will see this movie so that when the Disney version comes out it’ll be 100 times better.
