Get ready to Scream this summer while watching MTV. The network debuted the first trailer for its all-new series last night during the MTV Movie Awards and also announced the show’s premiere date: June 30.
The Scream trailer was introduced last night during the awards show by Bella Thorne, who is most famous for her role on Disney Channel’s Shake It Up! but has also appeared in other series like CSI and Red Band Society (she also just recently co-starred in The DUFF with The Flash‘s Robbie Amell and Parenthood‘s Mae Whitman). It has already been announced that Thorne will appear in the Scream pilot as an homage to Drew Barrymore’s iconic character from the original 1996 film.
In addition to Thorne, Scream‘s cast also includes Willa Fitzgerald (Royal Pains) as Emma Duvall, Bex Taylor-Klaus (The Killing, Arrow) as the preacher’s daughter Aubrey Jensen, Carlson Young (Key and Peele) as Brooke Maddox, John Karna (The Neighbors) as Noah Foster, Connor Weil (Kickin’ It) as Will Belmont, Bobby Campo (Being Human) as Seth Branson, newcomer Amadeus Serafini as Kieran Wilcox, Tom Maden (Make It or Break It) as Jake Fitzgerald, Joel Gretsch (Witches of East End) as Sheriff Hudson, and Tracy Middendorf (The Last Ship) as Emma’s mom, Margaret ‘Maggie’ Duvall.
Per MTV, Scream will focus on the teenagers of Lakewood, who soon face many problems after a YouTube quickly goes viral and serves as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to the town’s troubled past. Check out the trailer for the series below.
