10 Things You Didn’t Know about Faithe C. Herman

Faithe C Herman

She may not have hit her teens yet, but Faithe C. Herman has already marked herself out as one of Hollywood’s brightest up and coming stars. Her engaging performance in This Is Us has made us all wish we had a kid sister like Annie Pearson, while her standout performance as Darla Dudley in the 2019 blockbuster, Shazam!, showed us she’s just as endearing on the big screen as she is on the small. Find out more about the young star with these ten fast facts.

1. Communication is key to her success

Acting is a hard job- the long days on set, the hours in hair and makeup, the stresses of the press junket. Throw in studying for exams on top of all that, and it’s a wonder that Faithe manages to get through it all. However, get through it she does, and according to the young actress, it all comes down to communication- not to mention the support she gets from her parents, school counselor, 7 teachers, and studio teacher, among others.

2. She loves to bake

Life isn’t all work and no play for the young actress. Although she spends long days on set (not to mention hours attending press conferences, interviews, and award ceremonies), she still manages to find time to be a normal kid, indulging her favorite activities of baking alongside her big sister, Esense, writing, art, painting, and drawing. She’s also a keen reader and has said that if her dreams of pursuing a career in acting fail to go to plan, she’d love to become an author (or, failing that, a nurse).

3. Will Smith is her dream collaborator

Faithe has already appeared alongside some pretty heavy Hollywood hitters, including Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, and Asher Angel in Shazam (2019), Timothy Davis, Tatyana Ali, and Mathew St. Patrick in Doe (2015), and Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, and Chrissy Metz in This Is Us. Her dream collaborator, however, is someone she hasn’t yet had the chance to work with… although given the direction her career is going in, it can only be a matter of time before she does. “My dream collaboration would be to work with Will Smith,” she told BCK. “I watch his TiK Tok’s and he’s hilarious. I want to do a fun comedy movie with him.”

4. This Is Us has taught her confidence

Given her young age, it’s hardly surprising Faithe sometimes finds the experience of being on set intimidating. However, according to an interview with YayOMG!, the experience of working on This Is Us has allowed her to take massive strides in her confidence. “I would say my This Is Us experience has helped me grow more confident as an actress,” she says. “When I first started, I was really shy, but working with Sterling, Susan and the rest of the cast, I’ve grown to be more open and free about how I express my character and that it’s OK to make a mistake because it’s all a learning process.”

5. Her icon is Wonder Woman

Faithe clearly looks for inspiration in the right places… according to interviews, her favorite superhero, and the icon she would most like to be like, is the legendary Wonder Woman. “I love Wonder Woman,” she’s raved. “She is so amazing! If I became a superhero, I’d want the ability to be invisible or teleport.”

6. She started working at the age of four

Faithe, the youngest of four children, started working when she was just 4 years old. Her mom, obviously sensing her daughter’s keen ambition, helped nurture her dreams, allowing her to audition out for various background parts via the agency, Kids Management. In August 2014, Faithe won the change to sign up for the talent agency BMG Model & Talent. Success soon followed, and she was called to audition for a role in a pilot entitled The Untitled Dan Fogelman Project. After two callbacks, Faithe was offered the part- the role turned out to be the character of Annie Pearson, and The Untitled Dan Fogelman Project turned out to be This is Us. The rest, as they say, is history.

7. She’s an award winner

Despite being only 10 years old, Faithe is already an award winner… and knows exactly how to win the crowd over with her fashion-forward attire. As well as stealing the show at every SAG and Emmy red carpet event she’s attended, she also a two-time winner of the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, something she’s clearly proud of. “Wow! To win it twice is totally amazing!” she told BCSKids. “I feel so honored and grateful to be a part of such an amazing show and to be acknowledged by our peers was very rewarding.”

8. She’s more like Darla than Annie

Although Faithe has said she loves playing the youngest member of the Pearson family on account of her also being the youngest child in her own family, she feels the most connection with the character of Darla from the 2019 movie, Shazam. ‘I’m more like Darla,” she’s told BCK. “We both talk a lot, we love our family, and we are the youngest, so I really got to bring Darla to life in this movie.”

9. Her role model is Yara Shahidi

Faithe may idolize Wonder Woman, but her role model in the business is 19-year-old Yara Shahidi. Faithe has said she loves how the older actress has managed to combine her school studies with her career, and hopes to be able to emulate that same success in her own career.

10. She’s full of advice

She may not have even hit puberty yet, but that doesn’t mean Faithe isn’t full of some very sound advice. Asked by YAYOMG! what her advice to aspiring actors and actresses would be, she answered “ Go for it! Have faith in what you believe in. If acting and performing is your passion, then don’t let anything get in your way.”
