If there’s one thing I like about Bill O’Reilly in 2017 it’s that he’s pretty forthcoming with his criticisms of Donald Trump. One thing O’Reilly never did and never has done is officially sell out on his political beliefs. It’s one of the reasons his show is still popular. But when it comes to harassment of women, can you honestly sit there, look at this guy and think in your heart of hearts that he’s never, not once, harassed a woman in some way? I mean seriously. Can you? I just don’t see how it’s possible.
Recently a report came out that that five women got a total $13 million in settlements after accusing him of harassment. “Just like other prominent and controversial people, I’m vulnerable to lawsuits from individuals who want me to pay them to avoid negative publicity,” the Fox News host said in a statement on his website. “In my more than 20 years at Fox News Channel, no one has ever filed a complaint about me with the Human Resources Department, even on the anonymous hotline,” he added.
According to multiple news outlets the complaints included verbal abuse, unwanted advances, lewd comments and indecent phone calls.
O’Reilly said Saturday, “I’m a father who cares deeply for my children and who would do anything to avoid hurting them in any way. And so I have put to rest any controversies to spare my children. The worst part of my job is being a target for those who would harm me and my employer, the Fox News Channel. Those of us in the arena are constantly at risk, as are our families and children. My primary efforts will continue to be to put forth an honest TV program and to protect those close to me,” he added.
Why do I not believe any of this? The only thing I believe is O’Reilly loving his family. I do believe that but with regard to past or present harassment complaints, come on! Have you seen that “do it live!” video from back in his younger days? And that’s with no alcohol. I just don’t believe, not for a second, that O’Reilly’s never said something indecent to a female. And honestly folks, screw evidence. This is a fact and I don’t care what people respond with.
