If you’ve gone to Darth Vader for a Mastermind course in branding, then you have definitely surrendered to the Dark side. While it’s true that if you want a business to grow you have to be daring and even take some risks, give your spouse a break and ask them to support you rather than make a choice between them and business. It’s not an easy thing to get a brand off the ground but building a Death Star to eliminate the competition is not sound advice. If you CAN build a Death Star though, and wouldn’t that be impressive, then you might already have a business that people could possibly use. Defense Department anyone?
Creating a brand is fairly difficult depending on how you go about it though. The business you’re attempting to start is essentially you in a package of some sort and that’s what you’re selling. Forget the product or the service, people need to see you and know that they’re buying from you. Don’t stress about what you’re going to lose, it will happen one way or another. Believe it or not, losing is part of business at times. If you never lose then you never learn, though you might want to minimize your losses by learning with each one of them as you go along. Thankfully most businesses won’t force you to lose a limb or other body part in exchange for getting ahead.
Branding is pretty much getting something out there that is yours and no one else’s. It’s making the claim that you have something that’s worth more than the next person’s and are willing to wager your business that you can do something better than anyone else. Getting your brand out there can mean being aggressive to the point of seeming ruthless, but it pays to know what you’re getting into before you actually do it. Jumping into this type of thing headfirst without any prior knowledge of how to go about it is a risky proposition and could leave you flat broke unless you get extremely lucky. Of course if you’re Darth Vader or another powerful Force user then the power of suggestion could go a long way. A Force choke here, a threatening swing of the lightsaber there, and the competition might think twice about challenging your dominance within the market.
Of course until you master those two very unlikely things it would be wise to learn something about business, how to sell, and how to attract customers. Otherwise the chances are good that you’re going to dive into the pool and start drowning very quickly. Business is not kind at all times, it is not forgiving, and it is not going to hold your hand and lead you to success. One thing that is very true is that if you want something there are times when you have to reach out take the opportunities rather than waiting for them to come to you. This world isn’t going to coddle you and give you everything. Sometimes you’ve got to take the risk and be a little ruthless.
