Last week the youngest Lyon scored a major coup by ousting his father from the company he built and dubbing himself the new CEO of Empire. What started as an impulsive decision by an entitled young man will quickly turn into a dangerous game of tug-of-war between Hakeem Lyon, his conspirator Camilla, and the entire Lyon family. On tonight’s Empire, Hakeem revels in the victory of becoming the head of the company before dealing with the realities of what it means to be the face of a national conglomerate, especially with his family working against his own personal interests.
Hakeem has been determined to prove that he is the new King on the block, despite being stuck between his family and the conniving Camilla. Even though Hakeem is technically the CEO, Camilla is the one who wants to be in control. Since she is the one holding the purse strings and using them as reigns over Hakeem, she expects to get her way. She already made her first demand last week when she ordered Hakeem to break things off with his girlfriend Laura, a decision he promptly took back. Tonight we will no doubt see Hakeem revel in his new position, eager to show off his victory to the world. With the whole Lyon clan out to oust Camilla at any cost, even when it means taking Hakeem down a few dozen pegs, Hakeem will have to prove if he really has the leadership skills for the job or is simply entitled. Hakeem believes he is control of the situation for now, but neither his personal nor his professional ambitions may matter once he finds out that Anika is carrying his child.
