Danny Masterson Finally Gets Fired from “The Ranch” By Netflix

Netflix has announced that Danny Masterson has been fired from The Ranch. As a result, he will still appear in the second half of Season 2 of the series, which is expected to be released on December 15. Furthermore, he might appear in some parts of Season 3 which will be released at some point in the future, but otherwise, that is it for his involvement with the series.

Why Did Danny Masterson Get Fired from The Ranch?

Masterson was fired for the simple reason that he is one of the Hollywood figures who have been accused of sexual misconduct in the wave of stories that came out when the case of Harvey Weinstein burst the dam. In his case, a number of women accused him of sexual assault and other examples of sexual misconduct. Unsurprisingly, Masterson issued a denial of the accusations through his long-time agent Jenni Weinman, who managed to provoke a further uproar when it came out that she had said that a woman can’t be raped by someone that she is in a relationship with, which is a rather concerning statement to say the least.

With that said, the accusations against Masterson are made even worse by the fact that the women have accused the Church of Scientology of covering up the incidents. For example, one of the women, Chrissie Bixler, was a member of the church at the time but has since left, whereas Masterson was a member of the church at the time and remains so at the present time. Bixler claims that when she submitted a report to the church’s ethics office about what had happened, the church responded by forcing her to sign an agreement releasing Masterson from any claims through the threat of labeling her a “suppressive person,” which is essentially a Scientology term for those that it sees as opponents.

Suffice to say that being labeled a “suppressive person” would’ve resulted in Bixler being cut off from other Scientologists, who would not have been able to communicate with her without being labelled “suppressive people” as well. Furthermore, the Church of Scientology has an infamous reputation for being willing to harrass and otherwise intimidate its opponents, with one particularly infamous example being the espionage campaign that it waged against government agencies in the not so distant past.

More recently still, Masterson’s connections to the Church of Scientology resulted in furious speculation that the church was exerting influence on the LAPD in an effort to minimize the consequences for him, which would be possible because it has an institutional policy of building strong relationships with local police departments. The speculation started up because internal sources claimed that the LAPD had found a great deal of supporting evidence for the accusations made by the women when it looked into them, but was not reluctant to move forward with charges in spite of said evidence. Regardless, now that Netflix has fired Masterson from The Ranch, it will be interesting to see what happens from this point forward.
