An English father by the name of Martin Hughes who goes by Wefail on Twitter has an unusual ritual he performs with his twin daughters Poppy and Isabella. The girls are adorable but when their dad decides to dress them up and recreate a famous scene from The Shining, things get a little terrifying.
Hughes taught his girls to hold hands and stand still in the hallway of a London hotel, referencing the Grady twins from Stanley Kubrick’s iconic 1980 horror film. According to an interview with Buzzfeed News, he’s even “jokingly taught them ‘come and play with us’ not long ago…” Some of his photos of the girls actually went viral and Hughes reported that the girls did in fact scare some of the guests there.
As a parent myself I have to say this is kind of awesome. You have to have a sense of humor as a parent, especially as a parent with twins. That no one has really done this before is a bit surprising but I’m glad Hughes had the vision to try it out. As you’ll see from some of the reactions around Twitter, many people are in agreement with me that it was a funny idea. Yeah it’s creepy and disturbing, but it’s still funny.
