CW viewers, get ready for the best Friday ever! The CW made the official announcement today that they have renewed a total of 11 shows for the 2016-2017 TV Season. For starters, all three DC television shows have been renewed as Arrow will be returning for its fifth year with The Flash coming back for a third season and the new spin-off series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will in fact be back for a second year. The DC/Vertigo series iZombie will also be back for a new season, as it received a Season 3 pick-up
The CW also announced that its critically-acclaimed sci-fi series, The 100, will be back for Season 4, along with the Monday night line-up of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin, which scored renewals for a second and third season, respectively. Additionally, the network’s two vampire drama that have now moved to Friday nights, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, will be returning for an eighth and fourth season, respectively.
Lastly, but certainly not least, the Winchesters brothers will be back, as Supernatural has been renewed for a twelfth season. Also, Reign, which returns next month to finish its third season, received a Season 4 renewal.
“The CW has become home to some of the most critically-acclaimed shows on broadcast television, with a wide array of fantastic scripted series across the week, ranging from musical comedy, to superhero action, to gritty sci-fi dramas,” CW president Mark Pedowitz said in a statement. “As we continue to further our strategy of more year-round original programming, picking up these 11 series for the 2016-2017 Season puts us in a great position of having proven, high-quality shows to launch in the fall as well as midseason and summer of 2017.”
