Check Out Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks Playing Each Other’s Most Iconic Characters

Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks playing out their most iconic characters is anywhere from funny to just terrifying. It’s a good bit of fun even though I’ll admit I’m not a Meryl Streep fan. She at least has a sense of humor and can play along while having a good time so there’s no need to be cynical at this moment. But watching her as Woody from Toy Story, oy, her take on that was kind of terrifying since I don’t recall Woody growling so much in his delivery. Of course on the spot it might be kind of difficult to get the voice down just right.

They both got the emotion part of their roles down right at least, though of course Tom had to kind of vamp it up just a bit to get his point across. It’s funny though to watch actors take on the roles of other actors just for a gag at times. It’s something that you don’t always expect and if they do it their way or the way it was done onscreen it doesn’t really matter since it’s all fun and games at that point. Despite not liking her I can fully admit that Streep is one of the more dominant and popular actresses throughout all of Hollywood. She’s been a well-accomplished thespian for a good number of years and has definitely made her voice known throughout Hollywood in a variety of ways. There’s not a lot she hasn’t done at this point and she’s still going strong. A lot of people would argue until they’re blue in the face that she is the one and only actress worth of winning one Oscar after another in consecutive years, but that’s an argument we don’t need to get into right now. Let’s just leave it that she’s great and move on.

Tom Hanks is another actor that’s so on point most of the time that he doesn’t seem capable delivering a bad role. He might have been in a few movies that weren’t that great but his role has always been solid. The number of roles he’s acted in is hard to fathom really since he’s been acting for so long and has taken on so many different personas. Forrest Gump is one of his most endearing, as is Woody from Toy Story. Personally though Josh Baskin from Big was pretty good, and so was his role in Bachelor Party. The guy just doesn’t play a bad character no matter what the movie he’s in does.

Together they’re a combined powerhouse of acting talent that might overshadow anyone else in a movie. It remains to be seen in The Post, the newest movie that they both star in and that came out in late 2017. I haven’t seen it yet but I can imagine that the two of them put forth a stellar performance that will force their costars to knuckle up and bear down in an attempt to make their own roles seem just as good.
