Check Out Eclectic Method’s Newest Remix: ‘Han Solo Song’

Eclectic Method obviously likes the mixing technique that allows the natural sounds of a clip to come through and yet still make a lot of sense when it’s put together. In doing a clip about Han Solo, which is great because obviously the Solo references are going to be flying fast and heavy now that the Solo movie is coming out in a few months, Eclectic Method showcases a lot of what’s made the heroic smuggler great throughout the years. Taking a look at the clip you get an idea once again of just how long it’s been since Han Solo was the young, fresh-faced rogue that everyone came to love so much back in the day.

Some of it sounds kind of disjointed but I think that’s the point really since it’s supposed to sound a little off here and there in order to bring the sound together. In some ways this is almost like jazz, you really have to hear what’s not there or what’s hiding behind the dialogue, or within it, to really get a firm understanding of what’s going on. For Star Wars fans it just seems like a fun recap set to song to take a look at Han Solo then and now, almost like a review to remember just what the man was like during his run in the Star Wars universe. He was one of the favorite characters from the start really because of his attitude, his self-confidence, and of course because he didn’t conform to authority very well. It’s still hard to imagine that he was a part of the Empire at one time, but thankfully he dropped that nasty habit when he couldn’t watch a wookie being beaten to death.

If you’re wondering why he bothered saving Chewbacca it’s because when he was a kid and a part of a pirate’s crew he was cared for by a female wookie by the name of Dewlanna. He’d been abandoned as a child and picked up by Garris Shrike, the aforementioned pirate. Dewlanna was a cook aboard Shrike’s ship and watched over Solo from the time he was a young child until he finally escaped from Shrike, who would have kept him around until he was all but useless. Dewlanna sacrificed herself so that he could survive and escape, prompting Han to promise that he would save one of her people if he ever got the chance, so as to settle the debt he owed her. This was one of the reasons that he was moved to save Chewbacca. In turn, Chewbacca swore a life debt to Han that bonded them together from that point on. It helped that thanks to Dewlanna Han understood wookie.

Since his time with Shrike Han became kind of a cynical and even cold individual that was only balanced out by Chewbacca’s big heart and affable nature. Of course that didn’t stop the two of them from being able to enjoy the finer things in life when they could get them, which wasn’t often.
