Today would have been Anton Yelchin’s 28th birthday. He was an incredibly talented actor who was taken from us way too soon with an incredibly tragic accident. Most people don’t realize that Yelchin’s acting career began at the young age of 11. From the time he appeared on ER as a kid to the day he died, Yelchin had been appearing in film after film. Amazingly in his short time on this earth he amassed 67 credits on IMDB.
He was truly starting to come into his own. Whether or not he was Oscar caliber is debatable but I have a feeling that should Yelchin have lived into his 30s there could have been some roles that at least afforded him a nomination.
To celebrate the late actor’s birthday, I’ve selected a brief tribute video that highlights some of his best roles as well as captures some commentary about what industry insiders thought about him. It’s hard to pick a favorite Anton Yelchin role but I always liked him in Alpha Dog but he’ll also always be remembered for being Charlie Bartlett, Chekov, and Kyle Reese.
RIP Anton Yelchin.
