The cast of the Big Bang Theory and the world at large have a great tribute to pay to one of the most intelligent men to ever call the planet earth home, Stephen Hawking. Hawking passed away recently at the age of 76 after having lived with ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. For those that don’t know this disease severely weakens a person’s muscles and impacts their their physical functions to the degree that movement is nearly impossible. Hawking had been living with this disease since 1963, though it never stopped him from becoming known as one of the most brilliant minds on the planet.
Throughout his career Hawking has been lauded over and over for his intelligence and his insights into the world at large and was able to see and understand things about the world that still amaze many of us. His ability to grasp complex formulas and ideas about the cosmos and our place in it was simply astounding. It’s no wonder why he would be a recurring guest on The Big Bang Theory, and it’s no secret that he could make even a fictional genius like Sheldon look like a novice. Despite the disease Hawking still managed for his many years to keep his mind sharp and his wit on point it would seem since he was fully enjoyed by the cast and was appreciated for his time and effort.
The cast of the show were grateful to have met Hawking and expressed this through Twitter. It is truly a great loss that the world has suffered today as Hawking was perhaps one of the smartest people to ever draw breath. There will be no replacing him as there are many that might have been just as smart, but none that will ever match his brilliance in the same way. The cast of The Big Bang Theory were extremely complimentary in their praise of the renowned genius and poured their hearts out to show just how much he meant. One can’t say that he didn’t lead a full life, no matter that the ALS did limit him physically. He still managed to do a number of great things during his time in this world, and for that many people will continue to be grateful as they follow the example he’s set and continue his work as much as they are able. Getting along without his guidance however might be tough for a while, but thankfully he was here for a good long while to keep people on the straight and narrow.
There’s so much that can be said about Hawking and his contributions to the world that it likely would make this article run on and on for many pages. But one thing that needs to be said is that through everything that he went through as the ALS progressed, he never quit. He went through harder times than many of us will ever know in terms of his physical decline. But he never quit. That’s a lesson that many of us can learn from regardless of our intelligence. Rest in peace sir.
