Beverly Hills is the land of legends and dreams. The mansion bus tours, the glamor, the old time Spanish-style bungalows and the grand estates. Yes, there are real estate shows and even psychics who cater to the Beverly Hills crowd. It’s a magical fairy tale land of illusion, garish wealth, broken dreams, horrific crimes, and scandals. We haven’t run out of ideas for Beverly Hills-based reality shows yet.
Beverly Hills Plumber
Everyone needs a plumber. As hard as it is to believe, even the rich and famous go potty. What happens when a guy wearing a blue shirt and jeans has to unstop the toilets of the rich and famous? Are they tempted to steal a bar of expensive black soap as a souvenir? Sure the maid or butler makes the call, but how many times do you wipe your feet before entering a home with a 90210 zipcode? Plumbers no doubt show their crack in the swankiest of homes, so why not film them? Some out of work B-list actors might just need the money. to pay for their McMansion on the hill. If bathroom wall could talk!
The Real Scientologists of Beverly Hills
The LA Celebrity Centre is full of Beverly Hills elite, who work in front of the camera and behind it in production. Leah Remini did blow the lid off some secrets of this mysterious religion, but what exactly do these Beverly Hills Scientologist do when not making movies? Do they try to recruit their friends at cocktail parties? How much of a part does their faith really play in their lives? Are their e-meters made of gold? Perhaps a giant photo of L. Ron Hubbard graces their home office or private gym?
Old Vets Remember
During World War II when my dad was on his way to fight in the Pacific, many legendary film stars opened their Beverly Hills homes to the service men and women for a stopover on their way to ship assignment to boost morale. Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, and many other glamor girls of the era opened their hearts and homes to those in the service. Although my dad was one of the youngest WWII vets joining up at age 17 in January 1942 there may be others who have memories to share about their visits to these amazing movie star homes on the hill. The service members were treated like celebrities, swam in huge pools and dined like superstars, all on the dime of these actors who wanted to do their part for the war effort. Who would want to watch a bunch of old vets sharing memories? Lots of us would!
Hollywood Babylon The Series
Kenneth Anger had us transfixed with tales of old Hollywood with his books and films about Hollywood Babylon. There are plenty more scandals to tell and that guy who does the “Dearly Departed Tours”, Scott Michaels, would make an excellent host. We all can’t fly out to LA to get on his tour bus, so why not let us all in on the macabre fun. These tours are supposed to be excellent and we would all love to hitch a virtual ride.
