At this point in his career, Ben Whishaw has been acting for more than half of his life. 1. He Has Done Voice Work
Most people are familiar with Ben for the live-action roles he’s had, but some don’t realize that he’s also had a very impressive voice-acting career. Most notably, he was the voice of Paddington Bear in the movies Paddington 1 & 2. He replaced Colin Firth who was originally cast for the role.
2. He Studied At The Royal Academy Of Dramatic Art
Ben’s natural talent is undeniable, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t put in a lot of work on top of that. He went to school at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) which has a long history of producing successful actors. Some of the school’s most famous alumni include Alan Rickman and James Norton.
3. He Has A Twin
Ben was born and raised in England and he appears to come from a pretty close-knit family. Ben has a fraternal twin brother named James. There isn’t much information about him online, but we do know that he doesn’t work in the entertainment industry. It doesn’t appear that Ben has any other siblings.
4. He Is In A Relationship
For most of his career, Ben shied away from answering any questions about his love life. However, all of that changed when his relationship with Mark Bradshaw was made public in 2013. Mark is a talented composer who is originally from Australia. The two have been together for nearly a decade.
5. He Has Won Several Awards
When it’s all said and done, every actor’s career will be measured by the number of awards they’ve won. That being said, Ben Whishaw is going to be remembered right up there with the best of them. He has already won more than a dozen awards including a Primetime Emmy Award.

Ben has remained notoriously private throughout his career and he has no interest in letting the world in on his personal life. He believes that knowing too much about who actors are outside of their work can end up being detrimental to their careers. TV and film are where Ben has spent the bulk of his time, but he is also very comfortable on stage. He’s even continued to do theater even with the success of his on-screen career. 8. He Likes To Take On Challenging Roles
Some actors are perfectly fine with spending their entire careers in their comfort zone, but Ben has never had any interest in playing it safe. Instead, he prefers to go for roles that put his acting skills to the test. During an interview with Culture Calling, Ben said, “Safety is boredom and I never want to be bored. We have to keep moving forward without looking back – in everything we do.”
9. He Likes To Travel
The world is a big and beautiful place and sadly, there are a lot of people who will never get to see much outside of where they live. Ben, however, is fortunate to have the opportunity to lots of traveling. His career has given him the time and the means to visit lots of beautiful destinations.
10. He Is A Producer
Ben is famous for the work he’s done in front of the camera, but he’s also given things a try from the other side. He made his debut as an executive producer in 2019 with a short film called O Holy Ghost. We weren’t able to find any information on whether he plans to produce any other projects in the future.
