Behind the Scenes of Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

Even looking behind the scenes of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom isn’t really convincing me yet that this movie absolutely needed to be made. It’s kind of the same thought that a lot of people had once the first, and then the second, and then the third movies were made. Leave them be. They were created, they found a way to procreate, just let them alone, cordon the islands off, and let them live in peace. The range of the flying dinosaurs isn’t great enough to move towards a more populated region so by all means just let them be and go on your way.

But that wouldn’t satisfy anyone’s love for dinosaurs or they’re need to see yet another expedition into their world in another ill-fated attempt to do something that should just be left to the devices of nature.  Do you ever get the feeling that in movies and in real life mankind reaches for things that should really be left alone?  It’s that insistent need to go ahead and meddle with things that are usually just fine on their own that leads people to more trouble than they can really handle.

I had a big love for dinosaurs in my childhood and I still think they’re cool. But like everything they can get played out if the movies focus on them too intently and don’t let their foot off the gas when they’ve expended an idea for all it’s worth. I could be wrong and this upcoming movie could be great. The animatronic dinosaurs are a big upgrade and the effects are bound to be even more impressive than any of the movies that have come before, including the last one. But I still have an issue with the premise just like anyone else that has seen this and is wondering why oh why people can’t just leave the dinosaurs alone.

Now the island they’re on is about to blow up and suddenly there’s a rescue mission being put together to go save the dinosaurs. Do people get the fact that the dinosaurs aren’t too likely to say “yay, you’re here to save us!” but will instead follow their natural instincts and think “mmm, meat delivery!”? The entire premise of going to an island that’s about to erupt into a fiery volcano to save a group of animals that didn’t exist until the first movie seems like an effort in futility, not to mention another cash grab by a studio that sees dollar signs reflected in every reptilian eye. It could go somewhere, that’s always possible, but personally I think I’ll wait until it’s on DVD. You know, about two or three months from the release date?

The effects look awesome, the acting will no doubt be on par with the last movie, and the direction of the movie will probably follow a very direct and forthright manner. But still, it seems destined to be something that people scratch their heads about and wonder why it was ever made at some point.
