“Avengers: Infinity War” Director Says Hawkeye’s Promo Absence Is “Tied Into the Story”

Apparently Hawkeye’s absence from any promos is tied into the story of Avengers: Infinity War, so fans might need to stop worrying about the fact that they haven’t seen him yet. One thing people should really learn is that even if you don’t see a character in the promos it doesn’t mean that they’re going to be taken out altogether. Hawkeye however is one of the only normal humans on the team along with Black Widow, and her story has managed to keep her in the spotlight along with her sex appeal. It’s kind of disturbing to think that way but it’s true since Scarlet Johansson is really up on the promos for a couple of reasons only. One is that she’s simply that attractive and therefore makes for a very positive image on the posters and in the previews, and two is that her story seems to be unfolding behind the scenes as people keep checking fan blogs and spreading rumors about a solo movie and an all-female movie that may or may not be coming out eventually.

But in terms of the movies Hawkeye is an original Avenger, as he was part of the group when it officially formed and has been since. They won’t just nix him from the next movie without a good reason, and even if that happened the news would likely hit the internet somehow and people would be wailing over it for the next few weeks. Hawkeye, despite not having any powers or anything other than his expert marksmanship and devil may care attitude, is not going anywhere. As far as the war goes between the Avengers and Thanos he’s not bound to be much help against the mad titan since his arrows seem like they’d be little more than irritants to Thanos. In the comics he barely got any mention since the heroes and villains that had more to them were the ones that really got into the action.  As great as he is, and he’s a very popular character, he’s still way outclassed in this coming movie. As it was shown he couldn’t even withstand Black Panther, who split his bow in two and then knocked him to the ground.

One thing that might be nice to see is the extent of Hawkeye’s skill set finally. While it’s not common for the enemies of the Avengers to fire off arrows at them since it’s not as effective, Hawkeye has been known for his endurance, his aim, and his ability to react without using his sight before. This is a guy that caught an arrow in his bare hand while being blinded at the time, so his true potential hasn’t really been lived up to yet. Against Thanos and his underlings he probably wouldn’t last long, but it’s still possible that he might hold his own for just a little bit. There’s a reason why people love Hawkeye and it’s not just because of his sharpshooting skills. It’s because quite honestly he has no sane reason to even be in this kind of fight, but he goes out and does his job anyway. He’s the working man among the Avengers that can’t always measure up but still puts in the best effort he can.
