Ever get the feeling of déjà vu? On tonight’s episode of America’s Got Talent, twelve once again become seven. What will America choose to move on to the semifinals?
The second round of live results started off with the reveal of the bottom three. Magician Eric Jones, singers Evie Clare and The Masqueraders. It was assumed, on my part, that Evie Clare would be sent home. Her song choice last night was not up to par and her voice sounded a bit off. Imagine my surprise after the young girl got the Dunkin’ Save. Guess that America thinks that she has the potential to go all the way.
When Light Balance was voted through, I had a broad smile on my face. Their performance was outstanding. I can see them perform in Las Vegas. That is if they end up winning the competition.
As Tyra said Mandy Harvey and Johnny Manuel’s names, it did not shock me one bit. If they don’t end up in the finals, they can seriously consider auditioning for other singing competitions. That, or get their own record deals. I’m sure that Ellen DeGeneres would be happy to sign them if she still has her record label.
Contemporary circus group Circus 1903 put on a short and sweet performance during the middle of the show. They’re not exactly Cirque du Soleil, but they’re still pretty impressive. The elephant puppets were so lifelike I almost believed they got real elephants on the stage. I also loved the magic tricks the ringmaster was doing with Howie and Heidi as well as with Celine and the little girl from the Pompeyo Family.
The results continued with Merrick Hanna, Celine Tam moving on. The Dunkin’ Save, of course, went to Evie Clare. The two remaining acts, Eric Jones, and The Masqueraders fell upon the judges. It ended up being a tie, so Tyra announces the tiebreaker vote. Eric Jones ended up being the lucky one. I feel sorry for The Masqueraders as they have waited for this moment for fifty years. Then again, they can always audition for next season. Next week, twelve more acts will fight for a spot in the final group of top seven acts before the semifinals begin.
Side Note:
After Merrick got voted through, Simon jumped up and down. It made my night. I have a feeling that it’s going to be an Internet meme forever.
