Nerves, heart-pounding and anticipation. Three things that are never too far away in competitions. In tonight’s episode of America’s Got Talent, these emotions will not be far behind. Which first five acts will America choose to go through to the finals?
I could barely believe my eyes when Edgar, Tape Face and Laura Bretan stepped forward upstage. Edgar and Laura both delivered great performances. Tape Face’s act was hilarious, but it became a little boring now that I think about it. In the end, Laura and Tape Face made it through, and Edgar eliminated. Those two better up their game if they want to win the million dollars and the headline show in Vegas.
It was also nice to see Howie Mandel take part in the Dunkin’ Donuts Lounge segment. It’s Nick Cannon who’s doing the segment in the past, so it’s interesting to see the show change things up a bit. I facepalmed when Howie started to sing to Grace Vanderwaal. Stick to judging acts and stand-up comedy, Mr. Mandel. Singing is not your forte.
I also loved the Illusionist’s performances tonight. Their various magic acts had me glued to the screen as I tried to decipher their methods. I especially liked the part where paper strips turned into money. It didn’t look like real money, but it was incredible nonetheless. The card trick at the very end was beyond incredible. Reminds me of something that Mat Franco would do if he were asked to come back and perform again.
Okay, now it’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for. The first five acts to go through to the finals are: Grace VanderWaal, Jon Dorenbos, Tape Face, Sal Valentinetti and Laura Bretan. I was a disappointed that Deadly Games and Malevo didn’t make it through, but who knows? Maybe they will be headlining their shows in Vegas.
The judges also revealed a wild card act to return to the show. I knew who it was when Howie mentioned himself, Mel B and Heidi. That’s right; The Passing Zone will be back! Could the juggling duo finally get the great Simon Cowell to join in on the act? Wait two weeks and find out!
