Forgive me, America’s Got Talent gods. I am going to start ranting again before I get to the good things. First off, why bother interviewing acts that turn out to be boring? The two frying pan juggling duo’s act was both unwatchable and abysmal to be perfectly honest. If anything, I would see an act like this maybe once or twice. No more than that. The same goes for the one-man rock band J.J Phillips (hope I spelled his name right). His song choice was perfect, but again, it’s one of those see once or twice kind of performances.
I wasn’t too fond of the attorney/singer Anthony. His voice is like the kind that you hear when you go to the karaoke with friends. It’s far from being that of a professional singer. His singing was so off-key I had to mute my television, so I don’t have to listen to him sing anymore. I hope that he hasn’t quit his day job of being a lawyer or else he has a long road ahead of him if he wants to pursue this full-time.
Celine Tam’s rendition of Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On is impressive for a nine-year-old girl. I’m amazed by children who could sing well. I predict that she will take on another one of Dion’s songs in the next round. Hope the judges won’t eliminate her from the competition during judges’ cuts!
The act that blew me away tonight is Light Balance. Light Balance delivered a fantastic performance with their incredible light show. Though their performance is similar to that of previous groups like iLuminate and Fighting Gravity, it was still great to watch. They even got the Golden Buzzer from Tyra. I have a feeling that they’re going to go all out when the live show airs. I can also see them opening for Coldplay if they get the chance to.
Just Jerk is another act that blew me away. Their choreography is so in sync; it made me feel like I was at a concert watching them perform onstage. There have been many dance groups that have stood on the AGT stage, but these guys are truly something. Kudos to them getting through to the next round!
Final Notes:
Tom London’s magic act was mind-blowing. On the other hand, he’s got some serious competition. Will Tsai and twins Tony and Jordan all have interesting tricks up their sleeves? Good luck to all of you skilled magicians!
Robert Nash, the De Niro impersonator’s act did not amuse me one bit. His impression of Jack Nicholson wasn’t on point. I have to give him credit, however, for looking so much like the Oscar-winning actor. Even the judges were shocked.
