We have had ourselves an amazing three weeks of Olympic awesomeness in Rio. Now it’s back to business as America’s Got Talent returns with more acts performing for a spot in the semi-finals. Did they use the time during the Olympics to practise? Can they deliver a gold medal performance?
I loved Kadan Rockett’s act tonight. He got out of all those handcuffs in nothing flat, and when he popped out of the large toolbox at the end, I was as speechless as Simon Cowell was, which amused me greatly. Blake Vogt’s act was entertaining, but I think he should go a little bigger. Though the card in the egg trick was difficult to figure out, I’ll give him that.
The Edgar family band’s performance was emotional and touching. I adore the song that they chose as I have heard a version of it sung by James Taylor. I agreed with Simon when he said that they’re his favourite act of the night. Alla and Daniel’s performance, however, though good, was not that good. The dance routine was the same as before. The only thing different about it is their outfits and the song choice. I think that I will have “Cake By the Ocean” stuck in my head for a while.
When The Passing Zone performed, I was laughing till I couldn’t breathe. The juggling duo was juggling three judges (Howie, Heidi and Mel B) wearing astronaut suits. Mel B couldn’t stop screaming, and I laughed even harder when Howie was left hanging after the two female judges had their harnesses removed. If these two make it to the next round, I want to see Simon included in the act.
Malevo’s performance tonight was electrifying. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the screen. They got a standing ovation from the audience and got a group hug with Simon and the other judges. Such a sweet moment. Hope America votes them through to the next round. I’d love to see them again.
Overall, the acts did their best to earn themselves a spot in the semi-finals. Though there were a couple of acts that should just be sent home. It’s all up to America now. Time to vote.
