I never realized how funny it was to watch actors performing lines from other movies that are completely out of their comfort zone as much as when I just saw Adam Driver perform lines from the movie Clueless. If you all remember the 90s classic, Alicia Silverstone starred in the movie as Cher Horowitz, a shallow, self absorbed teenager who actually winds up being a caring and thoughtful individual after some deep reflection and realization that she’s in love with her step brother. Yup, that seems about right.
Anyway, while doing an interview for W magazine Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver, Lucas Hedges, and others do a reading of Cher’s school speech on Haiti. I’m not a fan of Garfield’s impression. I think he tried way too hard and acted too “girly.” There was no reason for this. The real treat in this video is watching Adam Driver. I feel like he channeled his character from Girls to do this one and it’s exactly how Driver should have done it. While I’m sure he doesn’t take this seriously, part of the allure of Driver is his intensity and fact that it actually does look like he’s taking it very seriously.
